SHARDS OF DAWN

Pixel-art tactics RPG for iPhone

Privacy Policy

Effective date:

Who we are

This policy explains how the game Shards of Dawn (“the game”) handles information. It covers the iPhone app (bundle ID com.we2beast.shardsofdawn) and the web version of the game. The game is made by Ilia Chasovnikov (“we”, “us”).

What data we collect

None. We don’t collect, receive, store, share or sell any personal data or usage data through the game, and we don’t run any servers for it. The only exception is an email you choose to send us (see “Contact us”). The game has:

  • no accounts and no sign-in: you never enter a name, email or password;
  • no ads, no advertising identifier (IDFA) and no tracking across apps or websites;
  • no analytics, telemetry or crash-reporting services;
  • no in-app purchases or payments;
  • no internet connection in the iPhone app: graphics, music and sounds are built into the app and load from your device. The web version only downloads these files from the game’s website.

This matches the “Data Not Collected” privacy label on the game’s App Store page.

Data stored on your device

So that you can continue where you left off, the game saves your progress (story, heroes, items, gold and stars) and your settings (such as volume, battle speed, difficulty and language) on your device:

  • iPhone: in the app’s private storage (Capacitor Preferences, which is backed by iOS UserDefaults, and the app’s own web storage);
  • web version: in your browser’s local storage for the game’s website.

This data never leaves your device, and we can’t see it. If a save ever turns out to be damaged, the game keeps a backup copy of it on the same device, so your progress isn’t lost for good.

You’re in control. Settings › Reset progress erases your current progress. Your settings stay, and so does the backup copy of a damaged save, if the game ever made one. Deleting the app removes all of its data from your iPhone, including any backup copy of a damaged save; in a browser, clearing the website’s data does the same.

Device backups. If you back up your iPhone to iCloud or to a computer, iOS may include the game’s data in that backup, as it does for most apps. Those backups are made and kept by Apple or on your computer under your own settings. We have no access to them.

Permissions

The game doesn’t ask for access to your camera, microphone, location, contacts, photos, calendar, notifications or local network.

It only uses a few standard features that need no permission and send no data: vibration for haptic feedback (you can turn it off in Settings › Haptics), the status bar and the launch screen. The iPhone app is built with Capacitor and includes only its App, Haptics, Preferences, Splash Screen and Status Bar plugins, which all work entirely on your device.

Third parties

We don’t share any data, because we don’t have any. The game contains no third-party code for advertising, analytics, attribution, crash reporting or social login, and it doesn’t load fonts, images or scripts from other servers.

  • Apple. The App Store is run by Apple, and downloading and updating the game is covered by Apple’s Privacy Policy. If you turn on “Share With App Developers” in your iPhone’s settings, Apple may show us anonymous, aggregated statistics and crash reports (for example, the number of installs). They don’t identify you.
  • Web hosting. The web version is delivered by a website hosting provider. Like any web server, it may automatically keep standard technical logs (such as IP address, browser type and time of the request) to deliver and protect the site. The game itself sets no cookies and uses no trackers.

Children

The game is made for a general audience and is suitable for players aged about 9 and up. We don’t collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). The game has no chat, no user-generated content, no ads, no purchases and no links to social networks.

Your rights

Privacy laws such as the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) give you rights over your personal data: for example, to access, correct, delete or export it, and to object to how it’s used.

Apart from emails you choose to send us (see “Contact us”), we hold no personal data about you, so there is nothing else on our side to access, correct, export or delete. You can ask us at any time to show you or delete your emails. Your game data stays on your device, and you can delete it at any time. We don’t sell or share personal information, and we don’t use it for targeted advertising or profiling.

If you have a question or still want to make a privacy request, write to danvil52@gmail.com. You also have the right to contact your local data protection authority.

Security

Since the iPhone app sends nothing over the internet and we keep no game data on servers, no game data can leak from our side. Emails you send us stay in our mailbox, and we never share them. Your saves are protected by your device: iOS keeps each app’s data in its own isolated storage. Keeping your iPhone up to date and locked with a passcode keeps your saves safe too.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of the game changes how it handles data (for example, by adding an online feature), we will update this policy before that version is released and change the effective date at the top. Important changes will also be mentioned in the App Store release notes. The latest version is always available at the same address.
